Yet, it also slips into incredibly delicate quiet moments, with just a simple bassline or a snare rattle in a sea of silence. Caroline perfectly balances restraint and release. These songs are expansive and emotional, drawing on choral singing, Midwestern emo, and Appalachian folk roots. Llewellyn says, 'Sometimes things sound better with empty space.' The band uses a collage technique, combining lo-fi recordings from various places like a French barn, bedrooms, and a swimming pool, with traditional group sessions.
